Through accepting or rejecting  the best intentions and advice of their mothers,  each daughter negotiates her  way  through courtship and marriage as best she can. A dancer's dilemma in 1990  begins the journey which returns to an arranged marriage in a rural mountain village in  the 1920s. It continues through WWII to the protests of the late 1960 and early 1970s. Worlds evolve and collide.   Society become more complex and multi-cultural.  Opportunities expand.  Expectations change.
